Introduction to crowdfunding video

Thinking about crowdfunding to grow your business?

PledgeMe helps Kiwi business owners scale up, with crowdfunding.

Crowdfunding is a way of raising money from your friends, family, customers, and fans.

Think of a goal and make a plan for how you’ll achieve it. Go to your crowd and ask them to pledge to your campaign. If all that support equals more than your goal, then you've made it!

From her kitchen to a multinational biz

Brianne West project and equity crowdfunded her way to building a multinational ethical beauty brand worth millions.

We offer two types of crowdfunding: project and equity.

Learn about project crowdfunding

πŸ™‹πŸ½β€β™€οΈ In this type of crowdfunding, you invite people to pledge to your crowdfund, and offer them rewards in exchange for their pledges

⏰ Project crowdfunds typically run for 30 - 45 days

πŸ‘―β€β™‚οΈ You need a crowd around you - friends, family, community, colleagues, customers - to support your crowdfund

πŸ’° The average amount raised for a project crowdfund is $10,000 to $20,000

🧁 Rewards can be any kind of exchange (in exchange for pledges), for example workshops, products, services, experiences, online downloads, home made muffins, candle lit dinners (you can get creative)

🏁 You need to meet your minimum funding target by your deadline, before any funds will leave your pledgers’ accounts, which will then be sent to you (minus our 5% success fee)

☎️ It’s helpful if you have an easy way of communicating with your crowd, for example via social media, emails, phone calls or good old fashioned face to face chats (can’t replace that)

🦷 You need a clear, specific reason to crowdfund, for example Solid Toothpaste crowdfunded to move out of their basement and into a manufacturing facility.

Alice Shopland has project and equity crowdfunded the growth of her company Angel Food for over ten years.

Learn about equity crowdfunding

🀝 In equity crowdfunding a company exchanges shares for investment.

πŸ₯³ Your crowd become shareholders and ambassadors for your company

πŸ’² Companies can raise up to $2 million over a 12-month period through a licensed platform (like ours)

πŸ’° The Financial Markets Conduct Act 2014 regulates this new type of capital raising
