Can you have more than one project campaign?
There's no limit on the number of project campaigns you can do. We've had some campaigners come back multiple times! However, we do advise that you run just one campaign at a time.
When will I get access to my pledgers’ contact information?
Once your campaign has hit its minimum target and has closed, you will be able to access your pledgers’ contact information via your PledgeMe account to arrange their rewards. Please remember that some pledgers choose to pledge anonymously and you won’t be able to access their contact information in that case.
What happens if I don’t meet my goal by my deadline?
PledgeMe works on an all-or-nothing model, which helps create urgency around campaigns and what we call ‘deadline magic’. This means if you don’t meet your goal by your deadline, you will not receive any of the funds that have been pledged, and the pledgers won’t receive their rewards. This is why it’s important to carefully consider both the timing of your campaign (we find that most successful campaigns run between 30-45 days, and we see almost no return after that length of time) and the amount you want to raise. Is the minimum you’ve set really the absolute minimum you need to get the project off the ground? Think about how much of the costs you could potentially cover yourself if needed (if only the minimum is met). Remember that, in the vast majority of cases, PledgeMe project campaigns raise more than their minimum target (sometimes much more), but that target first has to be met to get any of the funds at all.
Who can run a project crowdfunding campaign?
Anyone over 18 that has a specific project which they need funding for can run a project campaign on PledgeMe, so long as they have a New Zealand bank account (if you’re under 18, you’ll need a parent or guardian to front your campaign). However, we don’t accept project campaigns which contain hate speech or pornographic content, or which are purely charitable. By ‘purely charitable’, we mean campaigns which are asking for donations without offering any rewards in return (purely ‘giving’ donation platforms may be more suitable for these kinds of campaigns).
Can people living overseas pledge to a project crowdfunding campaign?
Yes. Anyone in the world can pledge to a project crowdfunding campaign. In terms of payment, it is easiest if these pledgers select the ‘Credit Card’ payment option when pledging. If they don’t have a credit card, they should get in touch with the PledgeMe team to arrange the pledge and payment in another way.
What are stretch goals?
Stretch goals are new goals that project campaigners set once their minimum target is reached. It is meant to give an extra incentive to pledge or for pledgers to pledge again. An example can be by adding a new reward once the minimum is met, or upgrading the project. You can set a stretch goal at any point during your campaign (even from the start if you like). You can communicate your stretch goal by updating your project description, sending out a campaign update and updating your social media with post updates. Examples of campaigners who have done stretch goals well is Known Unknown and The Residents.
